Step 1: Orientation/Training

Prospective Applicants will get information regarding the types of foster children placed, and the responsibilities of the Approved Resource Family.

Training is provided every Thursday from 3:00 pm to 6:00pm at the Corporate Office:

Individual training may be arranged by appointment only.

Training includes:

  • Understanding the vital need for Qualified Resource Families
  • The realities of Foster Care
  • Learn  the commitment of  A New Beginning Foster Family Agency expects from all Resource Families
  • Information on the Resource Family Approval Process which includes:  Background Check, Home Inspections, Family Evaluation and required paperwork
  • Information regarding the foster children placed in the Agency and Trauma Informed Services
  • Understanding the State, County and the Agency's Policies and Procedures

Step 2: Application Materials

Prospective Applicants will be provided with the application and information needed to complete the process.

Step 3: Home Inspection

The Home Inspection will be arranged according to the Prospective  Applicant's schedule. It will consist of a visit by an Agency Social Worker to the home. If it is determined that the  home does not meet the Compliance Regulations at the time of the inspection, a follow-up date will be set to allow the Prospective Applicant time to correct deficiencies found.

Step 4: Family Evaluation

Once all of the above steps are completed, an Agency Social Worker will meet with the Prospective Applicant and all family members who reside in the home to conduct a face to face interview. A written report will then be completed and submitted to the County's Central Placement Unit for final approval.

During The Final Stages.

Once the Prospective Applicant has become Resource Family Approved, the home will be eligible to have placement of foster children.

The Intake Department will contact the Resource Family and provide as much known information regarding the foster child in need of placement. If the Resource Family accepts, the Agency will make arrangements with the County's Central Placement Unit.

Placement calls come in 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It is imperative that all Approved Resource Families answer their phone when the Intake Department calls.
